Old Bones Pickups is based in the UK in the heart of Suffolk and is run by Sean Wilson (me!); In a previous life I was a registered nurse, working in major trauma and ITU nursing, and served as a combat medic in the TA (Army Reserves). My career was unfortunately cut short by a spinal injury. Deciding I needed a new direction, I trained as a guitar tech with Dr Robbie Gladwell, spending several years assisting with repairs, rebuilds, and setups on various stringed instruments.

Robbie originally worked for Gibson in the USA during the 70's, learning to make pickups and guitars from Gibson's original PAF winders and luthiers, before working with Seymour Duncan, and becoming an industry consultant for Fender, Gibson, PRS, and Hagstrom. Over the years I have known Robbie he has shared these insights with me. Teaching me the various pickup making techniques, tips, and tricks he has learned over a 50 year career. This has enabled me to design my own pickups and create accurate replicas of popular sets.

While working with Robbie I had the opportunity to test many vintage & modern pickups, and began repairing them for his customers. This led to customers requesting custom work, or replicas of popular sets to be made, and to me starting my own business in 2021. 

I now work with individual customers, luthiers, and professional musicians, supplying both the industry and individuals with the tones they crave!
